The National Football Museum’s Collections department is working to unlock the history of women’s football by exploring our women’s football collection. Cataloguers Kate and Chris are currently documenting a large collection of material purchased by the Museum in 2015 and unearthing objects in our archives that have never been displayed before. They will be using this blog to showcase some of the exciting discoveries of objects and stories which are emerging from the collection.
The Museum will extend its permanent galleries to display its women’s collection which includes international material from the early days of the game through to recent FIFA Women’s World Cups. The new display will open to the public in March 2018 revealing the hidden histories of women in football.
